Sam’s Mobile Home – George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces Features Sliding Systems Products Again

Our engineers are delighted to again assist
with the design and supply of telescopic slides for this fascinating programme.
Colleen Roberts, heads up our internal sales, and had daily briefings from Sam
who was totally hands on throughout the design process.

The design brief was to supply an extremely
heavy duty slide, with a low profile, which would have minimal deflection
with an offset load throughout the 1.6 metre extension and span. We came up
with the DTS50 length 1600mm which has a 160kg load capacity across
the extended pair. The load was also dynamic, as in it was Sam in his
wheelchair on an extending platform into his mobile home….

Being able to personalise a design project
always adds interest and Colleen was really pleased to see the slides
featured closely on the C4 programme with George pointing out their
robustness. As engineers we were more pleased to see how solid the deck was
under load. ‘They didn’t budge an inch!’ was exclaimed from the sales office.

George meets Sam, a 30-year-old
conservation worker from Somerset who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, and
helps to design a fully accessible mobile home that will allow him to move
freely inside as well as taking it on the road to travel the country.
