Sam Shaw Engineering Project

Occasionally we get to help an aspiring student with a design project and in this case it was a self lifting bike rack.

Sam Shaw approached us with his A2 Extended Project Qualification with a view to studying engineering at university. A year later we have the finished product and it’s pretty damned good. 

Sam designed his rack around a pair of Thomas Regout ULF D slides length 1200mm. They have a sequential mechanism which provides a clever staged opening/closing to Sam’s design and you can see how well it retracts in the video clip.

We wish Sam well at uni and wait for his next project!
