The CONTAINER TOOL-BOARD (CONTOOL) fully locking slide has been developed for the emergency and commercial vehicle markets where either a flat mount or over/under configuration are required. Whilst our techncial advice is always to side-mount Container Slides for maximum load capacity, there are applications where there are space or mounting restrictions. Pull out tool-boards require an over/under mount and this usually means standard locks do not engage when inverted, as they are gravity activated.

This is a standard 76mm locking 227kg/pair class Container Slide when used in the major axis (upright), however the lock design is spring loaded so it can be activated through a full 360 degrees, even inverted. This allows pair purchase, rather than expensive LH or RH single options. When flat mounted or fitted over/under on the indirect axis, the load is reduced substantially by circa 70-80% to a maximum 60kg. Our CONTOOL slide is per pair load rated for this flat application, as stated in the load tables.

The CONTOOL slide pair can be fitted on the direct axis where peak loading is 227kg or flat mounted with reduced peak load at 60kg. It can be used throughout the vehicle in any mounting orientation, whether on full load in a drawer or part load on a tool-board. Container slide beams cannot be disconnected for ease of fitting, due to their high load capacities.

The CONTOOL slide has a bright yellow front lever handle which disconnects and connects the locking facility in the closed and fully extended positions. This is a lightweight hollow section slide with a reduced 60kg load capacity when flat mounted. The slides are easy to fit with the locking device being integrated into the beams. The locks will function in any orientation. The locking and non-locking versions are interchangeable. Whenever flat mounting slides, increased deflection will occur, so always test in situ prior to moving into full production.

Full details of the fixing patterns and lengths and loads are set out on the datasheet. Bright zinc plated mild steel with positive stops in the closed and fully extended positions. The bearings are hardened steel with chrome plate. The locking lever is made from hi-visibility yellow nylon on steel. Dimensions are for the closed length of the slide body. Add 32mm for the red front latch, which controls locking in the closed and fully extended positions.

Loads are stated at full extension when the slide is uniformly mounted on the indirect axis (flat), or in an over/under tool-board configuration (over/under).
